VETS Canada has evolved from a grassroots movement to help homeless and at-risk veterans, to a nationally registered non-for-profit charity, that provides a broad range of support to veterans in need. This could mean anything from arranging housing, to assistance with groceries and power bills, or emotional and mental health support.

Among the services offered by VETS Canada is a programme known as “Guitars for Vets.” The volunteer-led programme provides veterans suffering service-related injuries (including PTSD) with a gently used guitar and online or volunteer lessons to help get their mojo going and contribute to the recovery process, through music.
The programme is accessed through VETS Canada by e-mail, at vetscanada@gmail.com or by phone, at 1-888-228-3871, which also serves as the organization’s emergency support line. They exist solely for the purpose of helping Canadian veterans.
VETS Canada also operates a drop-in support centre where vets can have a coffee and a chat with someone who listens and understands. This centre is a safe place to find support, conversation, and a community of others who care. 517 Besserer Street, Ottawa, ON, and their hours are Monday-Friday 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 01:00 p.m. (1300 hours) - to 04:00 p.m. (1600 hours)
