About the event
Where: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 314, 5550 Ann St., Manotick, ON.
When: Sunday, October 29, 12:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m.
Who: Canadian Military Historian, Mr. Norm Christie
He has travelled the world following in the footsteps of Canada's soldiers from Sicily to France, to Spain, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Moreover, he has written 18 books on the Canadians in the First and Second World Wars. Norm is known for his TV documentaries "For King and Empire", "For King and Country", "Battlefield Mysteries" and "The Great War Tour”.
Mr. Christie was Chief Records Officer of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in the UK, and their Admin Officer in Arras, France for five years. Mr. Christie is recognized as Canada's leading expert on Canadian battlefields and cemeteries of the First and Second World War.
Topics: At 1 pm: Terry Hunter will discuss two of the most famous Great War weapons; The Vickers
Machine Gun and the Lewis Gun.
At approximately 01:45 p.m., Michel Gravel will explain his work in finding the Dressing Station
of and the exceptional commemoration of Dr. Frederick Banting at Dury, France.
At 2 pm: Norm will talk about CA40 - The Missing Vimy Cemetery as covered on the History
Channel, discussing how the discovery was made and what is happening now.
